At the beginning of 2019, Materna IPS gained their first Japanese customer, Chubu Centrair International Airport. Now the first 8 Self Bag Drop kiosks have been installed on site in less than two months and have already caught the attention of national TV channels. Shortly after the installation at the end of September, the Japanese station NHK broadcast a report on modifications to the passenger journey which included our Drop.Go series. The clip provided a first impression of the passengers’ positive reactions towards the changes.
Due to the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan is currently focusing on improving services at airports. As one of the biggest national airports with more than 11 million passengers every year, Chubu Centrair is also facing the consequences of rapidly increasing passenger numbers and all-time peaks. Self-service can help them to cope with these challenges in the most convenient way for all the parties involved.
Our Drop.Go solutions are easy to fit and integrate into existing check-in counters without making any changes to existing hardware installations and they are also equipped with an intuitive application and touch display. The retrofit units work with the Materna CUSS Platform that allows different airlines to use the self-service drop-off points.
We are thankful for the trust the airport has placed in us and the welcoming response from passengers right after the installation. In the future Materna IPS is going to continue working on enhancing the passenger travel experience worldwide. This project marks the beginning of us positioning ourselves on the Japanese market.
